MEET THE HELLO CUP
You may have heard the term ‘menstrual cup’. That’s what the Hello Cup is. One of those. Essentially you put it up your vjayjay instead of a tampon. The best bit is, they’re even better than tampons – well, we think so anyway.
Not only will your Hello Cup last for years and save you heaps of moolah, it’s also good for the environment, holds more than tampons and is unbelievably comfortable (as in you can’t even feel it).
The Hello Cup is proudly made and designed in New Zealand using top notch German medical grade thermoplastic elastomer, a type of plastic commonly referred to as TPE. We chose TPE for Hello Cups because it is fully recyclable at the end of its life, it is comfortable and soft to the touch and it is hypoallergenic – making it perfect for women who have silicone sensitivities.
Hello Cups contain no rubber, latex, PBAs, heavy metals or other nasties. Colours used are certified food grade and comply with EU and FDA standards. If you look after your Hello Cup it will last you 5 years. Pretty amazing, eh?
We feel strongly that, when it comes to your vjayjay, you only want to put trustworthy stuff up there (sound advice from our grandmothers). Not all cups are equal. The Hello Cup is in a league of its own and is FDA registered.WHICH SIZE IS FOR ME?
The Hello Cup comes in three sizes – XS, S/M and L. While working out what size you are can be tricky, the below info is a good starting point.XS: our smallest and softest menstrual cup. It’s a great option for teenagers as well as petite users and those who prefer a ‘mini’ tampon.
Diameter - 38mm
Overall length including toggle - 57mm
Capacity (to the holes) - 17.5mlS/M: our ‘one size fits most’ cup. As a rule of thumb we recommend the S/M for users under 35. Fit users often find the S/M is best for them regardless of age or whether they’ve had children.
Diameter - 41mm
Overall length including toggle - 59mm
Capacity (to the holes) - 21mlL: a good choice for those over 35 who have given birth and feel things might be a bit 'stretched' up there.
Diameter - 45mm
Overall length including toggle - 64mm
Capacity (to the holes) - 28ml
We’re not going to lie, it can be a case of trial and error to find the best Hello Cup size for you. Despite what many people think, leaking can often be a sign a cup is too big rather than too small. If you are unsure of size, we recommend getting a Double Box to help take the guess work out of things. These contain both a S/M cup and a L cup for $69. Many of our customers find they can wear two sizes so opt for a smaller sized Hello Cup on light days and a larger one on heavy days.HOW DO I USE IT?
Yes, the first time you see a menstrual cup you could be forgiven for thinking “Yikes, that looks big. How on earth do I get that up there?” But as we all know, looks can be deceiving. The Hello Cup is made from soft, pliable medical grade plastic. You simply fold it and pop it in; once inserted, your Hello Cup will pop open and form a seal, and you won't feel it at all. There are a couple of different methods you can use to insert menstrual cups - we've included detailed and illustrated instructions with every Hello Cup to make things easier.
